In commemoration of this year’s World Health Day, Med-Vical International has organised a sensitisation programme to educate residents of Edo State on the importance of regular medical check-ups.

The organisation, known for promoting access to quality and affordable healthcare services, also operates a state-of-the-art medical centre and undertakes outreach initiatives aimed at improving community health.

As part of activities marking the day, the Med-Vical awareness team embarked on a road walk across the Benin metropolis, visiting markets, workshops and motor parks to engage residents on preventive healthcare practices.

Free vital checks were also conducted at the organisation’s hospital premises located in GRA, Benin City.

Speaking during the exercise, a representative of Med-Vical International, Dr. Chinwendu Emenike, said the initiative was designed to raise awareness on the importance of maintaining good health through regular screenings.

According to Emenike, “World Health Day provides an opportunity to educate the public on health promotion and disease prevention, while also celebrating the role of healthcare professionals in improving population health.”

Also speaking, Ms. Promise Osamwonyi noted that the outreach was targeted at encouraging individuals to take proactive steps towards their wellbeing.

“We are using this platform to emphasise the need for routine medical check-ups and to sensitise residents on preventive healthcare measures,” Osamwonyi stated.

On her part, the assistant secretary general of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Dr. Juliet Evbayehor, stressed the importance of knowing one’s health status.

She said, “Our goal is to empower people with the right information that will help them prioritise routine health checks for early detection and prevention of diseases. We are particularly advising individuals above 40 years to take their health screenings seriously.”
