The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday commenced its electronic membership registration exercise across the state in line with directives from the party’s national headquarters.
The exercise was formally flagged off by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was electronically registered alongside other party members. Former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, also completed his e-registration at his Agasa Ward in Okene Local Government Area, drawing a large turnout of party supporters and officials, including the State Chairman of the APC, Hon. Abdullahi Bello.
Speaking after his registration, the former governor described the exercise as timely and commendable, noting that it would strengthen internal cohesion within the party and enhance direct engagement between the APC and its members.
Bello described the APC as a party for all Nigerians and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts at repositioning the country for sustainable growth and development. He praised the President’s resolve to make Nigeria globally competitive, particularly in the areas of economic reforms and human capital development.
He urged party members across the state to actively participate in the e-membership registration, explaining that the initiative would provide a direct link between registered members and government empowerment programmes under the Renewed Hope administration.
“I want to commend everyone for turning out for this exercise. Our leader and President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has good plans for the people of this country and will continue to do more. The inclusion of the National Identification Number (NIN) in the e-registration process ensures that members are directly linked to the party leadership and can be reached for empowerment and other benefits without intermediaries,” Bello said.
He further encouraged party members to mobilise their families and supporters to participate fully in the exercise.
Bello also called on party members to take future elections seriously, reiterating that the APC remains the dominant political party in Kogi State. He urged sustained support for APC candidates at all levels in forthcoming elections.
While acknowledging the challenges associated with development and reforms, Bello appealed to Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting President Tinubu’s policies, which he described as well-intentioned and focused on long-term national progress.
He expressed appreciation to party stakeholders across the state, including the state executive, local government chairmen, grassroots leaders and party faithful, for their continued loyalty and support.
Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, disclosed that following the registration of the governor and former governor, the e-registration exercise would continue across the 21 local government areas of Kogi State.
He called for cooperation and prompt participation by party members to ensure the successful completion of the exercise within the timeline set by the party’s national leadership.
The event was attended by party executives, local government chairmen, local government party leaders and supporters from across the state.
