Immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has expressed profound sorrow at the passing of Alhaji Abubakar Umar Gegu, describing it as an irreplaceable loss not only to the community of Gegu-Beki but also to the entire state.
The late Gegu held a significant position in the community and was notably the father of Engr Bashir Gegu, the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, who served diligently in the same ministry during Yahaya Bello’s administration.
Attending the Islamic burial rites conducted for the late Gegu in the Nyiwo, Gegu-Beki area of Kogi/Koton-Karfe local government on Thursday, Bello characterized the departed community leader as a man of profound wisdom.
He acknowledged the enduring impact of Gegu’s guidance, attributing it to the developmental strides witnessed over the years.
Bello further emphasized that late Gegu served as a role model, leading a life aligned with the teachings of Islam, and urged the grieving family to find solace in the exemplary and dedicated life the late Gegu lived.
Bello offered heartfelt prayers, beseeching Allah to grant the departed soul of Abubakar Aljanatu Firdaus.
