Yakurr Nation Backs William’s 2027 Senatorial Ambition

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the people of Yakurr nation across the 13 council wards in constituency I and II in the Yakurr local government area of Cross River State have unanimously endorsed Senator Eteng Williams, who represents Cross River Central Senatorial District, to vie for the senatorial seat for the second term in 2027.

The endorsement took place yesterday  during  the stakeholders’ breakfast meeting   at Mkpani community.

In attendance are the member representing Yakurr I and II State Constituencies in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr. Cyril Omin, and  Mercy Akpama.

Others include council chairman, Mr. Yibala Inyang, councillors, state and local government appointees, the state treasurer of APC, chapter chairman and 13 ward executives, and top party chieftains including Johnson Ugbor.

Chairman of the forum, Mr. Johnson Ugbor,  who declared the meeting open, stated that politics is not about abuse and insults but what you can attract to your people.

“Our Senator is a good person, and he has attracted some projects to us. All we need now is to pray and work for those representing us so that when it is your turn, another person will work for you,” he said.

In his remarks, Mr. Yibala Inyang, council chairman for Yakurr local government area,   stated that all the infighting within the fold is nothing but a distraction.

While describing Senator Eteng as a capacity—and result-oriented lawmaker, he said, “Senator Eteng Williams has barely spent two years in office, and people are already stirring problems.
