The Yobe State Pilgrims Commission has announced the commencement of preparations for the 2026 Hajj, setting the initial deposit for intending pilgrims at N8.5 million, in line with the directive of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The executive chairman of the commission, Alhaji Mai Aliyu Usman, disclosed this during a strategic meeting held with management and staff of the commission in Damaturu.

He said that the commission would begin collecting deposits immediately through bank drafts, which are to be submitted via designated Local Government Hajj Fare Collectors and headquarters’ officers, emphasising that payment should be made promptly, as deposit collection would continue until the final fare is officially announced.

“The earlier intending pilgrims make their deposits, the better prepared we will be to meet deadlines and secure allocations from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” he stated.
The meeting also served as a platform to review the successes and challenges encountered during the 2025 Hajj and to develop a more robust strategy for the smooth coordination of the 2026 exercise.

He urged the staff and local government fare collectors to redouble their efforts, working with dedication to ensure that Yobe’s seat allocation is fully secured and efficiently managed.
He added that, “This is a spiritual journey that requires proper planning, sacrifice, and unity of purpose. Let us all work together to ensure our pilgrims receive the best possible service.”

He also offered prayers, asking Almighty Allah to bless intending pilgrims with the means to fulfil their religious obligations without difficulties.
