A statement issued by the director general Press Affairs and Media to the Governor Alhaji Mamman Mohammed said Lang stated this when Governor Mai Mala Buni paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

The ambassador stated that without quality education, there will be no development and progress for the society, state or nation.

“I am happy to learn that the Yobe state government has engaged in training and retraining of teachers as part of the process to rejuvenate basic education in the state,” he said.

The ambassador assured the continued support of the Swiss government to the northeastern states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.

He lamented that inaccessibility to the state in the past has denied her of some interventions.

Mr. Lang said emphasis would be given to education, agriculture, and healthcare delivery to support the government and people of Yobe state.

Governor Buni has while speaking, informed the ambassador that all communities displaced by the insurgency have been resettled except Malundunari community, which the state government in collaboration with development partners are working towards resettling.

He said the state government provided infrastructure in the communities to facilitate their resettlement with dignity.

“We provided schools, health facilities, water, roads, and others for smooth resettlement of the communities.

The governor said that although the displaced persons were supported with means of livelihood, the need for more support, especially in agriculture, is key and necessary.

“Agriculture is the mainstay of our people. The returnees need more support in agriculture for a sustainable means of livelihood.

“When there is support in agriculture and infrastructure, these would not only encourage the people to stay in their communities but would also curb rural-urban drift,” governor Buni said.

The governor expressed the readiness of the Yobe state government to partner with the Swiss government to improve the lives of the people of the state.
