Zamfara government says it will spend over N1 billion for the upgrading of the 700 capacity Sardauna Memorial Stadium in Gusau.
The state commissioner for youths and sports development, Alhaji Tasi’u Shinkafi, disclosed this while inaugurating a11-man committee for comprehensive youth’s infrastructure enhancement on Tuesday in Gusau.
Shinkafi said the stadium project was one of the two major ongoing capital projects being executed by the state government. “Over N1 billion projects have already been awarded by Governor Dauda Lawal and are expected to be completed in the next four months.

“More projects are expected to be awarded by the present administration for the youths and sports development across the state.
“Another ongoing project executed by the state government under the ministry is the N500 million rehabilitation and upgrading of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Tsafe, Tsafe Local Government Area,” he said.

“The upgrading of the camp is part of the state government`s policy to support the NYSC and welfare of corps members posted to the state for the one year mandatory service,“ he said.
The said commissioner said that the committee is mandated to supervise and monitor the execution of capital projects related to the youths in the state

He charged members of the committee to be dedicated and ensure transparency and accountability. “Your roles go beyond oversight; you must extend careful supervision of every aspect of the project components.
“You must ensure that contractors do not compromise standards and you must focus on quality assurance. Your commitment to service and the welfare of our dear state should guide your actions,“he said.
