Former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff has compared the three and a half years of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to eight years of previous administration in the state saying that achievements of the governor in the few years surpassed that of his predecessor.

Sheriff said this yesterday at the flagging off of the re-election campaign of Governor Zulum in the 2023 general election at Ramat Square in Maiduguri.

He called on the teeming supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to come out en mass to ensure that over two million votes are generated for the APC in the upcoming elections.

Flagging off his re- election campaign amid an overwhelming crowd at the Ramat Square, Zulum promised to capitalise on the emerging peace in the state to provide more people-oriented projects if given the mandate to serve the state for another four years.

The governor who attributed the peace currently enjoyed in the state to the doggedness of the Nigerian military and other security agencies under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari , noted that oftentimes when assessments are being made on the successes of his administration, many commentators make references to the facts that his government delivered 120 capital projects in the first 100 days, 326 capital projects in first year, 556 capital projects in two years, and over 600 clusters of capital projects in the third year.

However, he said the people should be proud of these capital projects, and that for him, the greatest achievement as an APC administration, is the fact that today, by Allah’s Grace, Borno is tremendously gaining peace and security.

“Our growing peace is the product of indomitable resilience demonstrated by you, the good people of Borno State, especially those who have suffered losses, injuries and displacements as a result of the Boko Haram crisis. Victims of the insurgency showed incredible strength and abiding faith, by standing against the insurgents despite their sufferings.

“Our growing peace is the product of sacrifices by our armed forces under the able command of our nation’s dedicated commander-in-chief, President Muhammadu Buhari. Our growing peace is the product of sacrifices by our volunteers in the Civilian JTF, hunters and vigilantes and those who support and pray for them.

“Our growing peace is the product of our resolve as an administration to make security our number one priority and it is the product of you, the good people of Borno State, who have stood by us,” he said.
