FCT Community Decries Lack Of Amenities

Residents of the Nuwalege community of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), have decried the deplorable condition, of road, good drinking water, government healthcare as well as secondary school, urging the government to alleviate their suffering by putting palliative measures in place.

They also said that they only have one LGA primary school but there are no enough teachers and facilities, while calling on FCT administration to provide enough teachers and facilities for the school. Adding that there are brilliants children if expose to better training.

The chairman of the community, CIS Oguntoyinbo Charles made this known to Leadership Sunday over the weekend during it’s meeting in Abuja.

He said that despite the community located within four major security organizations, these are; Nigeria Airforce Base, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Correctional Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, with 80% of their staff living in the community yet it still experience lack of social amenities and government attention.

“We do not have the presence of government in this community despite the fact that we always come out to cast our votes to elect our leaders. Our needs are not too numerous and deficiency of these needs are making the community vulnerable to predators and difficulties in the efforts to get these services.

“The above listed projects are capital intensive projects and the community do not have any source of income and therefore, we are incapacitated financially.

“We are soliciting for the support of the government and security organizations hosted by the community to support us by means of providing these social amenities to bring succour to our people in terms of security, education, health services and access road among others,” he stated.

He further stated that immediately he was given the mandate to pilot the affairs of salvaging the community as the community chairman, he began contacts the heads of the government and organizations surrounded the community to find a solution the challenges listed above and they really received a warm acceptance and assurance to rescue the community.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of Ido Division, Dauda Abimiku assured the community of it adequate cooperation to ensure the security guarantee of the community.

He said him and his men are always patrolling the place in order to ensure that every where is secured.

Other who were present at the meeting include: Chief Doda Monday from Koro community, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Captain Philemon Peter and among others.
