The body of an unnamed 13-year-old boy has been found in a pond at the Takalau area of Birnin Kebbi.
Residents said the boy might have died naturally or in the hands of hired killers or ritualists who after killing him dumped his corpse in the ditch and ran away.
However, an eyewitness, Abba Attahiru Kofar Dindi, said the boy left home in Gwadangaji area about three days earlier to Takalau area where he entered the ditch to take a bath but could not come out alive.
Dindi added that his body was later seen on top of the pond on Thursday evening and the incident was reported to the village head of Takalau area where the search team for his parents were dispatched all over.
“After receiving the information, his parents from Gwadangaji town in Birnin Kebbi, came to the village head of Takalau and evacuated the corpse for funeral arrangements,” the eyewitness said.
LEADERSHIP Weekend gathered that the boy was buried on Friday according to Islamic rites at Gwadangaji Cemetery with thousands of sympathisers in attendance.
