195 UNN Students Bag First Class Honours Degrees

The University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has announced that 195 students of the institution will be awarded first class degree certificates at its 53rd Convocation ceremonies.

Acting vice chancellor Professor Polycarp Emeka Chigbu disclosed this at the 53rd convocation press briefing held at the main hall of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.

He disclosed that the institution produced 11,143

graduates, adding that the award of first degrees, diplomas and certificates will take place on December 20, 2024.

He stated that the convocation lecture will hold on Thursday, December 19, 2024, and will be delivered by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN).

The UNN vice chancellor further added that Osigwe will be speaking on the topic: “Harnessing Technological Teaching and Learning” while the lecture will be chaired by the governor of Adamawa State, Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintri.

“The award of First Degrees and Diplomas of the University is scheduled for 10.00 am on Friday, December 20, 2024. The venue as usual is the Margaret Ekpo Convocation Arena at the Nsukka Campus of the University of Nigeria.

“The award of Higher Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas and Honorary Doctorate Degrees of the university will hold on Saturday, December 21, 2024 by 10.00 am at the Ekpo Convocation Arena.

“Other events of the week include exhibitions slated for Wednesday, December 18, 2024 and Convocation Drama Night holding on Friday, December 20, 2024. The Jumat Service comes up same Friday by 1.00 pm.

“Today, we proudly announce that we have produced eleven thousand, one hundred and forty three (11,143) graduates” he stated.

“I am also pleased to announce that a total of 1,356 postgraduate degrees and diplomas of the University of Nigeria will be awarded at the 53d convocation ceremony.

The breakdown of the postgraduate degrees and diplomas is as follows: 431 persons will earn the Doctorate degree, while 848 persons will be awarded the Masters degrees. A total of 77 postgraduate diplomas of the university will also be awarded at the convocation.

 

“Two persons have been found deserving of the honorary doctorate degrees of the University and will be decorated accordingly.

 

“In keeping with our tradition, two deserving retired professors of the university will be elevated to the distinguished status of Emeritus Professor. These are: Prof. Felix Ezema Onah (Faculty of the Social Sciences) and Prof. Isaac Uzoma Asuzu (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine),” he said.
