Police also disclosed that its operatives have been deployed for possible rescue of the two kidnapped nuns.

They were kidnapped on Tuesday night while returning from a vocational service meeting at Ogboji in Orumba-North local government area of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement late on Wednesday that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, visited the scene of the kidnapping for on-the-spot assessment of the incident.

“Police-led Joint Operation is already ongoing for the possible rescue of two catholic nuns allegedly kidnapped along Ufuma Road, Orumba North Local Government.

“The sad incident occurred in the evening of yesterday, 7/1/2025, when the nuns were returning from a Vocational service meeting in Ogboji,” Ikenga said.

He stated that the Command is already working with some clues for the possible arrest of the suspects and rescue of the victims.

The statement added that the Command is making an effort to rescue the member representing Onitsha North 1 constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Justice Azuka.

Azuka was kidnapped on Christmas Eve while returning home for the Christmas celebrations somewhere at Ugwunakpamkpa, Inland Town, Onitsha by a gang of hoodlums.

The Command said that its operatives have already recovered the lawmaker’s vehicle which he was driving in when he was kidnapped.
