Residents of Nasarawa village in Lapai local government area of Niger State have painted a gory picture of how a 20-year-old new wife, Aisha Aliyu, killed her husband, Idris Ahmadu.

The police in the state confirmed yesterday that Aisha killed her husband in the middle of the night.
The Niger State police command‘s public relations officer Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident, said, “Today, 12/02/2024 at about 1200hrs, information was received that in the early hours of the day, one Idris Ahmadu of Nasarawa village via Lapai, was stabbed to death by his wife, Aisha Aliyu, 19/20 years of the same address.

“Before the arrival of the police at the scene, the suspect had fled to an unknown destination, while effort was being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect. Case under investigation please“.
Aliyu Ahmed from Nasarawa told LEADERSHIP that the couple got married in December last year but it was a known fact in the village that Aisha was not happy with the marriage.
He said Aisha felt she was forced to accept Ahmadu and had hitherto treated her husband with disdain as they constantly quarrelled with each other.

A relative of the late groom who preferred anonymity told LEADERSHIP that before retiring for the night on Sunday, Aisha and her late husband had a misunderstanding and the elders settled the squabble.
He, however said, „In the middle of the night, we heard him screaming and when we went in, we saw Ahmadu in the pool of his blood.“ The family source said when the incident happened, the wife fled to an unknown destination.
