The Dada Yakwo (District Head) of Ushafa, HRH Baba Muhammed Ushafa has urged Nigerians and in particular his subjects to ensure they go get their permanent voters card (PVCs) so that they will go out and cast their votes in the forthcoming general elections.
The traditional ruler who is the longest serving traditional Ruler in the whole of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) gave the charge during the Annual Ushafa Cultural Day held on January, 1, 2023.
History has it that since 1970, Ushafa Cultural Day has been celebrated every 1st January of the year.
The 2023 celebration happens to coincide with 53rd anniversary of Ushafa Traditional Ruler Alh. Muhammadu Baba Kwanga as Dada Yakwo and District Head of Ushafa on throne since his coronation.
The traditional ruler who expressed his gratitude to God for the peace enjoyed by his community maintained that there’s nothing compared to peace as such it is important that we conduct ourselves peacefully always.
HRH Baba Muhammed Ushafa, is a former chairman traditional ruling council FCT and served excellently in this capacity in the 1980s.
He expressed joy and happiness that the Annual Ushafa Cultural Day an event that usually bring together every son and daughter of Ushafa in an atmosphere of love, peace and celebration was made more colourful with the turbaning of Bazhe Yakwo (War-lord) of Ushafa in person of Hon. Shekwolo Audi Haruna Ushafa.
The Dada Yakwo also used the medium to appreciate the governments support and also called on the government to continue to ensure that the dividend of democracy and good governance is extended to the community.
The Community Development Association leader Engr. Dikko Ayuba Ushafa expressed his gratitude to all and sundry and also sought for more of government intervention in the provision of infrastructures such as good roads, water and electricity in the community.
However the 2023 celebration was special as the Long gone Chief’s Secretary was back and occasioned by tuburning ceremony of the Bazhe Yakwo, which took place at the Ushafa Pottery event Centre, Bwari Areas Council FCT Abuja in conjunction with the Ushafa Community Development Association (UCDA), the place was colourful as most persons were dressed with cultural attires.
Explaining the significance of the cultural events, he stated that the event marks the celebration of life and also expressing his profound gratitude for the return of the secretary from Police custody and also the significance of the Bashe Yakwo of the community.
Interacting with some residents of Ushafa community leaders and stakeholders, they gave their Goodwill messages to the new Bazhe Yakwo stating that, it was a well-deserved title.
Commenting on his turbaning Hon. Shekwolo Audi Haruna appreciated the community for seeing him worthy of the title. He expressed his readiness to defend his community as the title implies.

In attendance were some dignitaries; Political Leaders, Clergymen, Royal fathers etc.
The event ended in celebration as the new basilica was accompanying to his residence with sounds of gunshots, drums signifying Chief Warrior of the community has arrived.
