President Bola Tinubu submitted his duly completed N100 million worth All Progressives Congress (APC) expression of interest and nominations to seek the party’s ticket to contest for a second term at the 2027 general election.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, accompanied by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen; APC governors led by their chairman, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, ministers, among others, submitted the forms on behalf of his principal at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

In his remarks, the Vice President called on Nigerians of all creeds to support the nomination process and re-election of Tinubu to consolidate on the gains his administration recorded in the first tenure.

“On behalf of our great party, I urge all Nigerians, I beseech all our countrymen, irrespective of differences in political affiliations, religious persuasions, private or social background, to support this nomination and by the special grace of God, the candidacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” he said.

The only challenger to Tinubu for the APC presidential ticket, Osifo Stanley, also submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms, declaring that the power of incumbency will not deter his ambition to lead Nigeria.

Stanley said his candidacy is rooted in the party’s commitment to internal democracy and constitutionalism, adding that the APC remains an inclusive platform which encourages contributions from all members.

“I strongly believe that we have a party that practices democracy and believes in constitutionalism. We are not a party that looks at things the way people see them from the outside,” he said.

APC adopted the direct mode of presidential primary election scheduled for May 23, 2027.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, have obtained the African Democratic Congress(ADC) expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Also, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, who is eyeing the ADC presidential ticket, picked the forms, pledging to prioritise security, job creation, and the rising cost of living affecting millions of Nigerians.

The National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed that the three aspirants had already obtained the forms, pegged at N90 million.

Atiku said he is set to present ADC presidential nomination forms at the party’s National Secretariat, Abuja on Monday.

In a statement on Saturday, the ADC announced that Atiku had paid for and received his nomination form, with the formal presentation already scheduled.

“A New Chapter in Nigeria’s Democratic Journey: H.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has officially received his payment receipt to contest under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election,” the statement read.

“The formal presentation of nomination forms is expected on Monday at the ADC National Secretariat, Abuja. The movement is growing. Hope is rising. Expect more.”

Hayatu-Deen, who received the form from the party’s National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, said the 2027 election must focus on restoring economic stability and improving national security.

The ADC has fixed the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms from 6 May to 13 May.

On the other hand, presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Senator Sandy Onor, has picked up his expression of interest and nomination forms.

Onor said after obtaining the forms that the support of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for Tinubu is a personal decision and does not reflect the party’s position.

He said while Wike remains a leader within the party, his political alignment does not determine the direction the PDP will take ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The Wike-backed PDP faction commenced the sale of its nomination forms on April 27 and closed the process on 4 May 2026.

In another political development, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) held its national convention in Abuja on Saturday.
