The irony of most campaigns especially by incumbents seeking a 2nd term, is going back to the campaign field empty handed, with unfulfilled promises and yet again another round of pledges, without assurances that the ones past, and the ones being made now, would ever see the light of day. This creates voter apathy and suspicion, thus giving the opposition a golden opportunity to make their case to be elected. As a political commentator who has had a keen eye on Katsina state, the state has seen a 70% reduction in attacks and deaths due to the insurgency bedeviling it.

The state’s incumbent government led by Dr. Dikko Radda has surely made its case for re-election in the coming elections by focusing on this threat while carrying on with development projects across the 34 LGAs. The governor flagged off the Tinubu/ Dikko election campaign for 2027 in Funtua, on the 28th of Oct. 2026; with the unveiling of the Building Your Future Scorecard of his administration. This scorecard highlights all the projects and achievements of his administration across the 34 local govts of the state.

According to Galadiman Katsina and District Head of Malumfashi, there has never been a governor that has taken developments to the rural areas like Gov. Dikko Radda since 1987! The flag off at Funtua which was greeted by a mammoth crowd is a clear pointer that Gov. Radda is well loved by his people. Funtua zone has witnessed the completion of 1,070 projects covering roads, water supply, education, security, health and other critical sectors.

The next stop of the campaigns on the 29th of Oct. 2026 was Sabuwa local govt where more than 50 projects have been delivered. The poor condition of the rural road networks had been addressed which has enhanced access to essential services and residents’ livelihoods. This was a campaign promise and it has become a promise fulfilled. The projects include interventions in education with the renovation of schools, water supply, upgrade of healthcare facilities and hospitals and youth empowerment programmes. On the 30th of Oct. 2026, the train was at Dandume LGA where the govt’s scorecard includes a fully functional general hospital. The governor also performed the ground breaking for the modernisation of the Dandume market which is to boost commercial activities and improve trading facilities. The governor also disclosed that all district heads had been upgraded to grade level 15 and all village heads to grade level 10, while all 6,652 ward heads alongside all Friday Mosque Imams, their deputies and Muezzins all receive allowances across the entire state. On grassroots development, Gov. Radda explained that the Community Development Programme (CDP), empowers communities to identify their priorities and participate in monitoring govt interventions through ward development committees.

The Tinubu/ Dikko campaign train berthed at Faskari LGA on the 31st of Oct.2026, where the governor commissioned the Faskari General Hospital, fully equipped with modern equipment and adequate personnel. The hospital was upgraded from a comprehensive healthcare centre to expand access to quality healthcare services to Faskari and neighbouring communities. The governor expressed his delight that they were not just going around for campaigns but to also commission projects. The security situation in Faskari has also been strengthened with the creation of security outposts and support for local security groups. The governor also commisioned the upgraded and renovated Faskari local govt secretariat. The campaign train moved to Bakori LGA on the 1st of Nov. 2026, where the governor unveiled the 6.5 km township road and a dual carriageway. He explained that the dual carriageway was to ease traffic, improve road safety and stimulate economic activities. There are 9 nine other township roads being developed in Bakori the governor recalled, including the Yanlambu road behind the comprehensive healthcare centre. At Bakori, the governor also commisioned a modern 8 room VIP lodge. Next was Danja local govt area on the 2nd of Nov, 2026. At Danja LGA the train witnessed the new general hospital which is an upgrade of the Danja comprehensive healthcare centre. The governor also disclosed the construction of the Danja Irrigation scheme which is estimated to cost N20 billion. The scheme is meant to strengthen irrigation farming, tomato production, improve farmers’ income and create more economic opportunities.

The campaign train moved to Kankara LGA on the 4th of Nov, 2026. At Kankara LGA, the governor inspected the ongoing remodelling and upgrade of the Kankara General Hospital. The project features diagnostics laboratories, intensive care facilities and radiology services. Wherever Gov. Dikko Radda goes he is greeted by huge and excited crowds that have shut down each the town. At Kafur, at Malumfashi, the story has been the same. He has visited 8 local govts so far and in each visit, he has commissioned projects, inspected ongoing ones and highlighted key achievements in the areas, in terms of community development, youth and women empowerment. So far so good as the Tinubu/ Dikko campaigns have been of promises made and promises kept. This is the kind of campaign the citizenry would like to see across the country where projects and developments speak for themselves, not on paper, but visibly for all to see.
