Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has dismissed claims by some politicians that he supports their candidatures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking through his senior special assistant on public affairs, Mr Peter Ahemba, during an interactive session with newsmen at the Nigeria Union of Journalists secretariat in Lafia yesterday, the governor said he has no anointed candidate and described the speculations as false and unfounded.
He said the people will choose the state governor during the next election and urged the general public to discount such claims.
“We want to make it categorically clear that Governor Abdullahi Sule has no anointed candidate to succeed him in 2027. Any appointee supporting such a claim is a sign of insubordination. Governor Sule will not condone such an act henceforth.
“The public should ignore politicians claiming to be government candidates for the seat of governorship for 2027. At the appropriate time, the people of Nasarawa will decide who they choose to be governor in 2027,” he stated.
He urged appointees with political ambition to desist heating up the polity and wait for the right time to sell same to the electorates, warning that such distractive tendencies would no longer be tolerated.
He said the administration is focused on providing the dividends of democracy to the people within the remaining two years it has to wind up.
He mentioned the ongoing infrastructural development across the state, including signature projects such as the Lafia flyover and underpass and that of Akwanga, as well as the proposed Keffi flyover.
He urged the public to support the administration’s efforts to continue to uplift their standard of living within the remaining time frame.
