The youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers South-East senatorial district, Hon. Innocent Ajaelu, has said that more political parties are joining the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He also declared that the coalition does not consider the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as threats to its political strength in the state.

The Rainbow Coalition, led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, is a political alliance comprising members drawn from the APC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, and Action Alliance, among others.

Speaking in an interview with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt, Ajaelu said the coalition was expanding rapidly and consolidating political influence across the state.

“Let me tell you why this coalition is sweet for me because I don’t even know these other parties you are talking about, if they are existing in Rivers State or they exist only on social media,” he said.

He compared the coalition to the formation of the APC in 2013, describing it as a proven political strategy capable of delivering electoral victory.

“Recall that in 2013, what have birth to the APC you are seeing today was a marriage of many political parties. They came together, became strong and removed a sitting President of a ruling party that had been in power for 16 years,” he said.

Ajaelu said the same strategy was being replicated in Rivers State, adding that the coalition was gaining strength daily through new political alignments.

“So, that is what we are going to replicate in Rivers State. The coalition is getting stronger by the day. So many other political parties are joining and I see it as one of the highest political strategy that has been introduced in Rivers State,” he said.

He maintained that opposition parties outside the coalition posed no electoral threat.

“There is no threat from any other party that is not part of the coalition that I know that will affect our performance in the general election come 2027,” he said.

According to him, the coalition has already become a dominant political structure in the state, with many key political actors either directly or indirectly aligned with it.
