The Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has implored former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to ignore calls by some political leaders seeking a coalition of parties to join them in their struggle to wrest power from President Bola Tinubu and prevent him from getting a second term in office.

The association’s national president, Hammer Olalekan, who said this in Ibadan on Sunday, added, “We implore Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso ignored the call by the so-called coalition leaders to join them in their struggle against Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

He said Kwankwaso was a heavyweight politician, “too prominent to stay long in opposition. “Looking at the situation, that coalition has no credibility to dislodge the ruling party in 2027.

“The political alliance that strategically removed former president Goodluck from office in 2015 had many sitting governors from the north and the south.

“It was a merger of about four to five political parties, including ACN, CPC, nPDP, Labour Party and part of APGA.

“It is that type of mega-colossal alliance that could be referred to as a coalition, not aggrieved party chieftains’ unionism, being presently led by the duo of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and former governor Nasir El-Rufai.

“Moreover, we believe that Kwankwaso understands that President Tinubu is a master strategist who knows the game better”, he said.

The youth leader, however, noted that President Tinubu would still be reelected in 2027 with or without him (Kwankwaso). “But we believe he should see positivity in decamping to the APC, preferably to Atiku’s coalition.
