The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that four people lost their lives following a devastating rainstorm that struck Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The agency’s Head of Response, Research and Statistics at the NEMA Sokoto Field Office, Tukur Abubakar, disclosed this on Monday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Abubakar, NEMA conducted a post-disaster assessment in the affected communities, including Mallamawa, Mai Mushe, Kaura, Sabon Gari, Rungin Tsamiya and other surrounding settlements in Kware LGA.

He said preliminary findings showed that hundreds of households were affected by the disaster, while many residents sustained injuries.

“Preliminary findings revealed that hundreds of households were affected, while many people sustained injuries and four deaths were recorded as a result of the disaster,” Abubakar said.
