At least 65 farmers from Nasarawa State have benefited from the state government sponsored enhance agricultural scheme where the farmers receive farm inputs such as improved Sesame seeds, herbicides and fertilizer.
Aside the 65 farmers, another 40 other farmers in Lafia, the state capital were given rams for rearing, which brought the number of beneficiaries to 105. With that 2,025 people have so far benefited from the programme.
In Nasarawa Eggon, the FADAMA N-CARES programme distributed two 244 goats for breeding to farmers.
Speaking on the rationale behind the gesture, the state coordinator for FADAMA N-CARES, Abdullahi Alkali, said it was a deliberate plan to assist farmers whose means of livelihood were affected by coronavirus pandemic.
While urging the beneficiaries to ensure they take proper care of the animals and utilize the farm inputs, Alkali added that FADAMA N-CARES will continue to assist farmers in order to boost food production.
