Nigerians in Cameroun have appealed to Akwa Ibom governor-elect, Pastor Umo Eno, to make Ibom Air flights to Cameroon (Uyo – Douala Corridor) a stable and viable reality.
The group appealed to the incoming administration to establish strong and cordial bilateral ties with Cameroun, especially in the area of transportation for ease of doing business.
Under the aegis of Coalition of Nigerians in Cameroon (CNC), leaders of the forum including the president, Mr. Peter Edet; his deputy, Chief Emeka Ajuonuma; Amb. Charles Eyo, secretary; Alhaji Idris Haruna, treasurer and other stakeholders in a communique after their meeting in Uyo noted that making the Uyo-Douala Corridor a reality would strengthen and boost a robust socio-economic relationship between Nigeria and Cameroun.
“We Nigerians in Cameroun are happy to identify with Akwa Ibom government because we have a vision that will ease our movement, boost our trades and give us a sense of belonging as a people. The immediate past administration of Gov Udom Emmanuel had promised us that Ibom Air would commence flight operations to Douala in Cameroon, but we understand the inherent logistics that could not guarantee the fulfillment of such promise.
“That is why we appeal to your excellency to hit the ground running by bringing to reality regular flights between Akwa Ibom and Cameroon.
“Your Excellency, your landslide victory at the March 25, 2023 governorship poll is the manifestation of the confidence Akwa Ibom people have in you as somebody who has outstandingly followed the development of the state since its creation.”
