18 Nigerian Athletes To Compete Against Best US College Athletes At NCAA Championship

The NCAA Championship is set to witness a strong contingent of Nigerian college athletes

aiming to make their mark in the history books. With 18 athletes qualifying for the prestigious event, Nigeria ranks third in terms of representation, trailing only the United States and Jamaica.

In the men’s 100m event, a remarkable five Nigerian athletes have secured their spots.

Favour Ashe from Auburn University, Godson Brume from Louisiana State University, Udodi Onwuzurike from Stanford University, Alaba Akintola from Middle Tennessee State

University, and Karlington Anunagba from the University of Northern Texas are the talented sprinters who will be vying for glory.

With such a strong representation, it is highly likely that at least two of them will make it to the final, with a good chance for one or both to claim medals.

Udodi Onwuzurike and Alaba Akintola will also be competing in the 200m event, where they have solid chances of qualifying for the final. Onwuzurike, in particular, is considered a strong contender for a medal.

Dubem Amene from the University of Michigan will be participating in the challenging 400m event. Although it may be a tough competition, Amene possesses the talent to qualify if he can achieve a sub-46 time.

In the 400m hurdles, Ezekiel Nathaniel from Baylor University stands out as a potential

finalist and medalist.His exceptional skills make him a strong contender for success.

Nnamdi Chinecherem, also from Baylor University, will be representing Nigeria in the javelin throw.

 

With his impressive abilities, Chinecherem has the potential to secure a medal.

 

Bashiru Abdullahi from the University of Texas San Antonio will face a challenging task in the 110m hurdles. However, he has the ability to spring a surprise and secure a place in the final.

 

In the relay events, the Nigerian athletes are also poised to make their mark. Godson Brume from Louisiana State University is part of the favored team in the 4x100m relays, presenting a strong chance for victory. In the 4x400m relays, Victor Akhalu from the University of New Mexico and Ezekiel Nathaniel from Baylor University have the potential to reach the final and contend for medals.
