Mr Dominic Iorfa, a member of the newly constituted board of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is confident that the will transform the domestic League.

President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, on Wednesday, inaugurated the new NPFL board led by Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye in Abuja, urging the board to take Club Licensing requirements seriously without minding whose ox is gored.

Iorfa, who is also the vice chairman of Lobi Stars FC, vowed to represent the club owners well on the board.

“I want to appreciate the honour to serve the country as one of the members of the NPFL Board. This is a special appreciation to my colleagues in the Clubs Owners Association for trusting me to represent them and also to contribute to the growth of our football at this precious period.

“Our domestic league has encountered setbacks in the previous years and it is time for stability and growth. We have to come together as a football family and work hard to transform our domestic league.

“The bedrock of any successful football nation in the world is the league and we have accepted the challenge from the NFF President to reform the NPFL.

“The League gave ex=pPlayers like me the opportunity to stardom and we must not neglect it and our football heritage. We need to bring glamour back to the League, we need to make it competitive and reform it.

“The NFF President spoke about Club Licensing, which will guide the new board on reforms that will transform our domestic League. I am optimistic the NPFL Board will deliver on the mandate given to us. We need the support of the ecosystem and we will work hard to take our League to the top level,” said Iorfa.

Iorfa’s precedent and how he was able to transform Lobi Stars FC which was on a decline gives hope to many football lovers in Nigeria that the new NPFL board will transform the domestic League.
