The abductors of Benue State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mathew Abo, have demanded a ransom of N60million for his release.
LEADERSHIP reports that Abo was kidnapped in Zaki Biam on Sunday night in the presence of his family members.
A source told our correspondent that “the kidnappers made the demand today (Friday) in a telephone conversation to a member of the family.”
The source, who did not want his name in print for security reason, claimed that the kidnappers have resorted to torturing the Commissioner in order to press home their demand.
The source said the kidnappers called on phone while torturing the Commissioner so that his family members could hear his cries for help.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to Benue State Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, quoted his principal as condemning the abduction and directing security operatives to go after the gunmen.
Abo was sworn in as a member of the Benue State Executive Council on August 29, 2023.
