National secretary of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), Mr Dipo Alayoku, has said that there is no faction in the party.

NNPP is facing series of crises with a group claiming the rightful ownership of the party headed by Major Agbo.

While the NNPP headed by Abba Kawu Ali said they have expelled Agbo amongst others, the Agbo-led group also said they expelled their former presidential candidate and leader of the party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

But at an interaction with journalists in Abuja, the NNPP national secretary, Dipo Alayoku, dismissed the speculations about an MoU-inspired deadline issued to Sen. Kwankwaso, stating that it is a ploy by certain politicians and other political parties to disrupt NNPP’s political journey.

“During the previous election, Senator Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso embarked on an extensive campaign, covering over 600 local governments across Nigeria and there was a difference in the last election,” Alanyokun said.

He said Kwankwaso’s commitment to reaching out to the electorate is undeniable adding that his determination to lead the nation is unwavering.

“Unfortunately, some state NNPP Chairmen were involved in anti-party activities, leading to their expulsion by the National Working Committee of the party. “These internal conflicts have raised concerns about the party’s unity and cohesion,” Alayoku said, stating that NNPP is a national political party without any faction, contrary to what some media outlets have suggested.

He called on NNPP supporters nationwide to remain calm and unite to advance the party’s progress and stability.

On the controversies surrounding Kwankwaso in the NNPP, Alayoku asserted that their former presidential candidate remains an authentic registered member of the party.

On the Agbo’s led group, Alayoku said Major Agbo is not the national chairman of the NNPP, adding that he has been suspended by the party’s National Working Committee, along with other members involved in disruptive activities.

“It is essential to highlight the ethical implications of one political party instigating conflicts within another,” Alayoku said.

He said following Professor Alkali’s resignation as national chairman of NNPP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was duly informed of the leadership changes within the party.

He added that this transparent approach ensures that all processes are in accordance with electoral regulations which brought Baba Kawu-Ali as national chairman of the party.

The NNPP secretary called on all supporters of the party not to waver in their support but remain steadfast and enthusiastic as the party prepares to participate in the upcoming governorship elections in Kogi, Imo, and other crucial states.
