Sunday Aernana, who is one of the convicts was said to have falsely accused the deceased, late chief Fatunla, of having an illicit affair with his wife.
Aernana was said to have tricked the deceased and his supposed wife to a farm settlement at Iyemero Ekiti on April 5, 2020 under the pretence that he wanted them to help him beg one lbira man who was disturbing him at the place he was doing his charcoal business.
The three other convicts were said to have descended on the two of them and beat them to a pulp on getting to the place, tying them to different trees with a distance of 300 metres apart.
They also broke a bottle on the head of the deceased and set him ablaze after pouring petrol on him.
Tadeni was said to have escaped death by the whiskers from where she was tied to a tree.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Julius Ajibare, called six witnesses to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.
