The paramount ruler of the Karshi community in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of FCT, Alhaji Ismaila Muhammed, has urged corporate Nigerians and the wealthy to invest in FOSLA Academy Karshi to develop the institution to produce quality football stars that can compete anywhere in the world and do Nigeria proud.

He made the appeal while hosting the female football team of the Academy that represent Nigeria at the recently concluded CAF African Schools Football Championship held in Lome, Togo in his palace Karshi, yesterday

He said since it appears that the government is not forthcoming in its responsibility of supporting genuine initiative toward creating a better future for Nigeria, good Nigerians partner the appropriator of the Adecamy and former president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi to develop the school.

“We are not bothered about the government any more, we are tired and they wouldn’t come because they are not interested. We are appealing to good Samaritans, Nigerians who think we can partner them to develop this school so that one day we will all look back and say this is what we have done for Nigeria.

“We want to develop talents that will put Nigeria’s name on the map of the world, that is our focus and we are appealing to Nigerians who are interested in the development of sports to come and partner the owner to develop a very good sporting academy that Nigerians will be proud of and the product that can compete anywhere in the world,” Karshi Monarch said.

The traditional ruler commended the Academy female team for making Nigeria proud at the CAF African Schools Football Championship in Lome by winning the fair award, saying they have made history.

“They have made history by representing Nigeria at the maiden edition of the CAF African Schools Football Championship and we hope that next year they should be able to bring the trophy to Nigeria. We are very proud of them.

“Football shouldn’t be just a game of men and we have seen that there is steady development of female football around the globe, Nigeria shouldn’t be left behind.”

The proprietor of the Academy, Sani Lulu, said his desire is to use the power of football to create a better future for Nigeria.

I’m so excited and feeling fulfilled, but I’m not there yet. And I sincerely believe that one of my striking things and encouragement is that for the very first time we are taking part in the CAF U15 Girls Championship. Even though we were not exposed, I see confidence and encouragement in these children during the tournament

“I’m grateful, and particularly God has blessed us despite not winning the trophy, we came back home with one of the most crucial awards which is fair play award.

“For those who know the concept of FOSLA Academy, our desire is to use the power of the game of football to create a better future for our country and it is not only laying emphasis on the men where football is already prominent, we believe we shouldn’t be concerned about the slow drift in participation of women but to ensure a better future for Nigeria must be about all sexes.

The Sani Lulu girls, who won Nigeria’s national preliminaries held in Abuja that qualified them to represent the country in Lome, were adjudged the most disciplined side at the inaugural 8 -Aside CAF African Schools Football Championship held between November 23 to 26, 2023 in Togo. The team won the award for their disciplined and strict compliance to CAF rules in the area of age limit.

It is also interesting to note that Patricia Habila of FOSLA Academy won the MVP and the Highest Goal Scorer Awards at the National Championship in Abuja ahead of the Togo trip.
