Nasarawa To Revive Grassroots Sports Devt

The Nasarawa State government has expressed the willingness to boost grassroots sports development in a bid to keep the youth productively engaged and away from crimes.
It said it will welcome ideas and initiatives aimed at achieving the dream of.reviving such activities across the 13 local government areas of the state.

Governor Abdullahi Sule made this known when he hosted the new official of the State Football Association led by the Chairman, Salisu Galadima on Thursday in Lafia.

The governor lauded Salisu Galadima for his contribution towards the development and growth of grassroots soccer in the state even as he challenged him to lend support towards the revival of other sports in the state.
He said the FA boss’s commitment and investment in the sports sector is in line with his administration’s vision to develop the capacity of youths in Nasarawa State.

The governor noted that his administration has done a lot in the transformation of sports in the state, adding that the facility upgrade and turnaround of the Lafia City Stadium among other interventions will guarantee the returns of Nasarawa United to the Premier League.

The FA boss who led other newly elected officials of the Association on.the visit, appreciated Governor Sule for his huge investment which led to the massive development of football and other sports in the state.
He noted that apart from new reforms that include capacity building of football officials across the state, the association is also ready to commence activities that would further herald the growth of football in Nasarawa State.

He appealed to the governor to assist in building a befitting football secretariat in the state.
