Rosemary Olubode, host of Rosemary Olubode Inspirational, a social media page dedicated to helping women become better spouse, has disclosed the drive behind the idea.
Rosemary Olubode, a trained pharmacist, was born in 1975 in Lagos State. The second of four siblings had a humble beginning but she was determined to rise above her background, with the understanding that education would be the catalyst to achieving it. She was raised in a Christian family by strict parents.
The 49-year-old beautiful and elegant mother of three attended Onoyade Community Primary School, and had her secondary education at Jibowu High School; both in Lagos. She demonstrated extraordinary intelligence, so much so that she had the best result in the West African Examination Council (WAEC) in her graduating set in 1993. She afterwards proceeded to the prestigious University of Benin in Edo State, where she bagged a BSc in Pharmacy.
The Rosemary Olubode Inspirational initiator undertook the compulsory national youth service in Eket, Akwa Ibom, where she met her late husband, Niyi Olubode, who died in 2020, after a fire incident. Her passion to do well in school took her often away from the kitchen, which did not leave her with so much cooking skills. However, she learnt cooking lessons from her husband and ‘graduated’ from the ‘school’ as a chef.
In an interview with journalists, Rosemary Olubode explained that her experience with her deceased husband of 18 years, as well as interactions with married men who desire more care from their wives, motivated her to start Rosemary Olubode Inspirational. The businesswoman bemoaned how married woman have become lazy to take care of their husband and carry out house chores without assigning them to house helps. According to her, insufficient care at home is one of the reasons some men cheat in marriage.
“I think personally, it (lack of care for men by their wives) is one of the reasons some men cheat. There are some men that even when you do all those things; cook for them, take care of them, they will still cheat. But majority of men cheat when as a woman, you don’t know how to cook and you are not even trying to learn. You cannot take care of the home. I see men, they complain, they come to my DM, and say ‘Rosemary, can you talk to my wife, don’t mention I said it to you. I think we women need to do better in that area. We need to take care of our husband, it is very important, especially if your husband is good. Why wouldn’t you want to take care of him?” host of Rosemary Olubode Inspirational queried.
“Some homes are not homes, some marries are not marriage. Some women have very terrible character. Even you as a woman cannot tolerate some of these women as friends, not to talk of a man. So what I’m trying to do is to erase that mentality that they have; that horrible mentality that they have in their marriage, that they can treat their husband anyhow, maltreat their children or people around them. I’m just trying to change their orientation, so that they can be happy in their home; that is the whole essence. I just want women to be happy in their home; I want marriages ordained by God, to last. It can last, so it depends on how you handle it”
Speaking further on her background, Rosemary Olubode said: “I did my Internship. You know in Pharmacy school, when you finished after five years, the first thing you go for is Internship. So, I did my Internship at Oselu Psychiatrist Hospital, which is a federal establishment. After then, I was posted to Akwa Ibom. Luckily, I got posted to ExxonMobil Clinic. That was where I did my youth service. After then, I cane to Lagos. I worked in a community pharmacy somewhere in Surulere; Flowyem Pharmacy. Then, I got a job at Dana Drugs. I worked with Dana Drugs Limited for up to like seven years before I left for my own company which I started.”
