Minister of education, Prof. Tahir Mamman and the acting executive secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Chris Maiyaki, are expected as special guests of honour at the 2024 Institute of Educational Leadership Practitioners of Nigeria (IELPN) international conference.
The conference, to be held at NUC in Abuja, will feature presentations on project-based and experimental learning, cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving skills for the modern world, and networking.
Briefing newsmen ahead of the conference holding next month on 14,15 August, the registrar and chief executive of the institute, Dr Taiwo Olufunmilayo Olusa, said the conference will focus on project-based and experimental learning to cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills for students in the 21st century.
Olusa said the conference theme, “Revolutionizing Education: Harnessing Innovative Pedagogies and Leadership for 21st Century Students,” emphasises the importance of leadership development in education.
“We believe that effective leadership is essential for student success,” she said.
“In this conference, we’ll focus on equipping teachers and instructors with the closest relationships with students, with the knowledge and skills to be effective mentors.”
She said the conference aims to improve students’ overall well-being by providing professional development opportunities for educators and policymakers.
