Missile Attacks: Iran Extends Airspace Closure Amid Fears Of Israeli Retaliation

Iran has extended the closure of its airspace amid concerns over potential Israeli retaliation following its missile attacks on Israel earlier this week. All flights have been cancelled until 5am (0130 GMT) on Wednesday to ensure aviation security, according to Iran’s state news agency ISNA, which cited a spokesman for the aviation authority.

The airspace closure initially began on Tuesday night when Iran halted all flights over Tehran after launching a barrage of missiles at Israel. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating that it was in retaliation for the deaths of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, and an Iranian general.

Iranian officials said the missiles targeted three Israeli air bases and the headquarters of Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence service. The missile strikes have heightened tensions in the Middle East region, and with Israel expected to respond, Iran has taken additional precautions to safeguard its airspace.

The situation has remained tense as both nations prepare for possible escalation of the conflict.
