William Troost-Ekong is rooting for his compatriot, Ademola Lookman to be crowned Africa’s best player for 2024.
Lookman is among the final nominees for the prestigious award.
The other players in contention for the award are, Serhou Guirassy, Achraf Hakimi, Rowen Williams and Achraf Hakimi.
The winner will be announced at the 2024 CAF Awards ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco next week Monday.
Troost-Ekong believed his compatriot is the only worthy winner of the award.
“I would say he’s arguably our best player and arguably the best player in Africa right now,” Troost-Ekong said.
“On December 16, there will be the [African Player of the Year] ceremony, and I’m sure he’s going to win it,” Troost-Ekong told Speaking with talkSPORT.
“This season he’s been something else and at AFCON he was amazing,” Troost-Ekong added.
“Everybody saw the hat-trick in the Europa League final, and there were a lot of rumours about big clubs which I know to be true. If I were any top club right now, I’d want him.”
