The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has publicly addressed recent media allegations regarding a contract dispute with a Saudi company, Mashariq al Dhahabia.

NAHCON’s head of public affairs, Muhammad Ahmad Musa, stated this yesterday, affirming the commission’s unwavering dedication to transparency and accountability. He said the commission honours all contractual commitments.

Recall that during a pre-Hajj visit in January, NAHCON and Mashariq al Dhahabia entered into an agreement to provide essential ground and Masha’ir services for Nigerian pilgrims. However, operational challenges were identified, particularly concerning Mashariq’s listing on the Saudi Visa Portal, Nusuk.

To address these issues and meet essential Saudi deadlines, NAHCON admitted to having made a proactive decision to supplement Mashariq’s services with an additional provider, ensuring that Nigerian pilgrims receive uninterrupted service during this sacred journey.

Despite recent claims of potential legal action from Mashariq, NAHCON rejects any attempts to monopolize the provision of services for Nigerian states. The commission is committed to fostering a competitive environment that enhances service quality while reducing costs for pilgrims.
