The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has ordered a full-scale investigation into the killing on Wednesday, of a man simply identified as Peter over allegation of stealing a dog.

LEADERSHIP learned that the deceased’s partner, 38-year-old Dokagk Danladi was also assaulted by a group of youths in a secluded area behind Lushi resulting in severe injuries.

In a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil on Thursday, police said Danladi sustained multiple machete injuries to the head and is currently receiving treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.

The police spokesperson revealed that Peter was found at the scene and was declared dead by medical personnel.

Wakil confirmed that investigation was ongoing, assuring that the Command was diligently working to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the mob action.

“A team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), visited the crime scene to gather evidence and piece together the circumstances surrounding the event,” the statement said.

CP Aliyu described the act as barbaric and a violation of the rule of law and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with the police as the investigation continues.
