The North East Progressive Youths Ambassadors have endorsed former governor of Plateau State, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, for the national chairmanship position of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the resignation of the immediate past chairman of the party, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
In a statement signed by the chairman of the group, Hon. Idriss Yobe, he said
Senator Lalong, representing Plateau South senatorial district, deserves to be the next national chairman of the APC, considering his political capacity and experience.
He said, “Let me tell you that the group under my leadership declares Sen. Lalong to be the next option for the APC based on his capacity to deliver the mandate of the party in the 2027 general elections.”
He described Simon Lalong as deserving of the position, as a founding member of the party, former two-term governor of Plateau, director general of APC’s Presidential Campaign 2023, former minister, former speaker of Plateau State Assembly, and current senator.
“Lalong, the former Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, has the capacity to lead the party based on his exemplary, remarkable, and outstanding leadership abilities,” he stated.
“I want to use this opportunity to inform you that, our decision to adopt Senator Lalong as the next APC National Chairman was based on his track record, credibility, and integrity,” he added.
