A group loyal to former minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the purposeful leadership of Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as their reason for crossing over.

The announcement comes ahead of a grand rally scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Igueben Palace in Igueben local government area, the heart of Edo Central.

Sources confirmed the defection as a “call to greatness” and a bold step towards unity, progress, and good governance under the stewardship of Okpebholo and the rally, to be hosted by Edo Central APC leader, Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe (Rtd).

The defection is expected to bring together party faithful, stakeholders, youth groups, and women associations to formally receive the new entrants.

Recall that last weekend Governor Monday Okpeholo received a former PDP  member of the House of Representative, Hon. Marcus Onobun, into the ruling APC.
