Winner Of ‘Maltina Teacher Of The Year’ To Receive N10m

Organisers of the ‘Maltina Teacher of the Year’, Nigerian Breweries Plc has disclosed that the winner of the 2025 edition will receive N10 million and N30 million worth of infrastructure delivery to the school, while the first runner-up will take home N5 million, and the second runner-up will get N3 million.

The Corporate Affairs Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr. Uzodinma Odenigbo disclosed this during a courtesy and awareness visit to Oyo State.

Odenigbo described the competition as a platform designed to recognise, celebrate, and reward outstanding secondary school teachers for excellence in teaching.

The Director revealed that the 2025 edition marks the 11th year of the initiative, through which 278 exceptional teachers had so far been honoured, with 10 emerging as grand prize winners.

He stated that the competition had elevated the profile of the teaching profession and brought national and international recognition to many winners.

Odenigbo added that, “One outstanding teacher from each state will be recognised as a State Champion with a N1 million cash prize”.

Welcoming the delegation, the Oyo State government, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, expressed its readiness to support any organisation, NGO, or individual initiative that promotes the overall development of education in the State.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola commended the MTOTY initiative for its consistent role in motivating teachers nationwide and enhancing the delivery of quality education in secondary schools.

He noted that the competition had significantly contributed to boosting the morale of teachers and improving learning outcomes among students.

He added that Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration has recruited thousands of teachers into both primary and secondary public schools to raise educational standards and ensure productivity in the teaching profession.

The commissioner restated the state commitment to partnering with stakeholders, private organisations and individuals towards building a lasting and impactful education legacy.
