Under the auspices of Yoruba in Colorado (YNC) made the declaration during a working visit to the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) in Abuja yesterday.

In her remarks, the YNC president, Dr Adetola Obiwole, said they were in Nigeria to provide medical services to some underserved communities and pledged their commitment to Tinubu’s re-election agenda.

Obiwole called on the National Assembly to effect the necessary constitutional amendments to allow for diaspora voting so that Nigerians in the Diaspora, particularly supporters of Tinubu can exercise their franchise.

“We restate our unalloyed support for the president, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and we are using this medium to urge the National Assembly to speed up work on legislations that would guarantee diaspora voting”, she said.

On his part, the general secretary of YNC, George Sotade declared that Nigerians in the diaspora, especially the Yoruba nation were solidly behind Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

He said, “We don’t need to talk too much. There is no vacancy in the Villa. Anybody running around is just doing that to bring more votes for us, for Asiwaju. The TSG is doing a good job in getting votes for Asiwaju.

“This visit is to let the world know that the Yoruba nation in US and by extension all Nigerians in US are behind Asiwaju”.

The director general of TSG, Dr Umar Tanko -Yakasai commended the associations for giving back to the country in the area of health and determination to support Tinubu in 2027.

“Some Nigerians when they travel, they forget home and think that they are in developed countries and so don’t want to associate with the rest of us here”, he said.

Yakasai lauded them for their excellent works in the US, saying it was unfortunate that people tend to focus on the few bad eggs giving Nigerians a bad name in other countries as opposed to the majority of hardworking Nigerians doing great in their various fields.

Yakasai urged Nigerian medical personnel in the diaspora to develop an advanced mentorship programme for young medical professionals in the country to address the issue of medical tourism.
