White Tigers Football Club has emerged as back-to-back champions of the Spires 5-A-Side Divisional Qualifiers in Lagos Island. The side, coached by Emmanuel Olom, retained their crown following a 4-1 victory against Youngq Strikers FC in Sunday’s final at The Stables Sports Centre in Surulere.
The losers’ final produced an eleven-goal thriller as Greater Tomorrow overwhelmed 2 Odds FC to secure their spot in the state championship.

White Tigers FC, Young Strikers, and Greater Tomorrow Football Club are the top three teams set to represent Lagos Island in the sixteen-team group stage tournament in October.

The qualified teams from other divisions are as follows: Ikeja – Wasola FC, Blood and Sand Football Club, and Soccer Gems FA; Ikorodu – Orion and Leon FC; New Generation FC and Evagrin FC from Epe; and Papa SA, Net Breakers FC, and Olaodus Football Club will represent the Epe division. Meanwhile, All Saints FC, Chekas United, and Emaljus Football Club are the three teams from the Badagry division. Peckins FA from Epe secured the best loser slot. The initiator of the tournament, Dr. Bankole Allibay, confirmed that all is set for the state championship, which will run from October to mid-November 2025.

In his words: “We are ready for the state tournament after a successful divisional qualifier. The prize money has been increased from N5 million last season to N10 million in this campaign, among other incentives,” Allibay added.
