The commendation came from the Good Governance and Accountability Watchdogs (GGAW), a coalition of civil society groups describing the milestone as a direct result of the successful deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), codenamed ‘B’Odogwu’.

According to the group, the feat was largely driven by the exceptional leadership of the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, whose dedication to the reform agenda of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has been exemplary.

The group coordinator, Amb. Abdullahi Ibrahim praised Onyeka for his “exceptional performance, unwavering loyalty, and steadfast commitment.”

His leadership has transformed the Tincan Island Command into a revenue-generating powerhouse and operational efficiency model.

“The ‘B’Odogwu’ system has introduced unprecedented transparency and efficiency into port operations,” the group stated. “Comptroller Onyeka has proven to be an honest, intelligent, and skilled port operations manager, effectively streamlining import and export processes with integrity.”

The coalition stressed that the record-breaking revenue is not a one-off achievement but a sign of a sustainable trend, demonstrating how technology and strong leadership can drive government agencies to exceed expectations and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economy.

They also expressed confidence in CGC Adeniyi’s vision, adding, “This achievement at Tincan Island validates the Comptroller-General’s strategic reforms and the renewed efficiency within the Nigeria Customs Service.”
