President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to confirm Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr Doro’s nomination followed election of the erstwhile Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman in July. Yilwatda represented Plateau State in the cabinet.

In a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Wednesday’s plenary session, the nomination was in accordance with the provisions of Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The letter read: “In compliance with the provisions of section 147(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I am pleased to forward to the Senate the nomination of Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro for confirmation as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“While I hope that this request will receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Senate, please accept, distinguished Senate President and distinguished senators, the assurances of my highest regards.”

Following the reading of the letter, Senate President Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative consideration.

Dr. Doro’s nomination comes amid ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to strengthen its cabinet and accelerate governance reforms. Further details on his portfolio were yet to be disclosed. Receives Doro’s Ministerial Nomination For Confirmation
