The delegation of President Bola Tinubu, led by Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, has commenced consultations with the United Kingdom authorities concerning the continued imprisonment of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

The delegation was engaging UK officials on the possibility of securing Ekweremadu’s transfer to Nigeria to serve the remainder of his jail term.

Upon arrival in the UK, the delegation met with the UK Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Justice and is expected to hold additional meetings with key officials regarding the matter.

The consultations were confirmed to Arise Television by the spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Minister, Alkasim AbdulKadir, who said, “Consultations are still ongoing with UK authorities on the matter. An appeal for prisoner exchange for him to serve the remainder of his term in Nigeria was tabled before the United Kingdom authorities.”
