Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Najim Usman Yasin, says he supports Governor Nasir Idris’ bid for a second term in 2027, citing their partnership in unionism.
Addressing a news conference in Birnin Kebbi, Yasin said he had been with Idris in trade unionism since the military era, when they were floor members of NURTW and NUT in Kebbi and Zamfara States.
He said, “ I started as an ordinary member in Zamfara NURTW during the military regime, while my friend and colleague in the struggle, Comrade Nasir Idris was an ordinary member in the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) before all of us rose to the positions of state’s chairmen up to NLC and national president of NURTW and NUT respectively.
So if you look at this, we are together with Comrade Idris in the aluta line when we were young up to this time, and that’s why I’m in the “crusade to see that he returns as Kebbi State governor in 2027,” Yasin “said.
According to him, in 2022, they were in Kebbi State together with the then National President of NLC, Comrade Wabba, and other trade union leaders, where they expressed their solidarity for Comrade Nasir Idris to become the governor of Kebbi in 2023 and won.
He noted that even by 2027, Comrade Nasir Idris will return as governor, considering him the second Comrade among the serving and ex-governors, after Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Najim also assured that NURTW members Nationwide will vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris in 2027 due to their road networks in the state and the country.
He cited examples of the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, the Ibadan-Badagry Superhighway, the Koko-Mahuta-Dabai road, and other accessible roads in Kebbi and other parts of the country.
