The governorship aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State, Engineer Abdullahi Isah Jankara, has dumped the former ruling party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Jankara announced his defection from PDP at a stakeholders meeting at Baban Gwari in Birinin Maza Tashibo ward in Lapai local government area in the state over the weekend.
He told the PDP stakeholders that Nigeria’s best alternative was the ADC in view of the developments in his former party.
The former aspirant, who said he was moving with 1500 his supporters across the state, called on the electorates not to vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 because of the hardship, insecurity and betrayal of the confidence reposed in them in 2023.
He said Nigerians, who wish the country well should join the ADC to save themselves from APC’s misgovernance at all levels.
He said the defection to ADC with his supporters was a product of wide consultation with critical stakeholders of the party “to contest for Niger state governorship election come 2027.”
He assured that the ADC will lead the country out of poverty, disunity and disintegration to bring about positive changes of massive infrastructure and human development to Niger State and Nigeria at large.
The chairman of PDP of Lapai local government, Bello Abubakar Ebbo, accepted the Jankara defection to ADC.
