The Senator representing Kaduna South senatorial district, Sunday Marshall Katung, has appealed to his supporters to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, in the 2027 general election.

Katung also distanced himself from unauthorised statements allegedly made by individuals claiming to be his supporters, which were critical of the Kaduna State Government and Governor Sani.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Senator Katung recently defected from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement signed by Senator Katung’s Special Adviser, Media and Communications, Joseph Midat, the lawmaker expressed concern over written and verbal comments attributed to such individuals, describing them as unverified, unauthorised, and inconsistent with him long-standing reputation and values.

The statement said such utterances and actions stand against Senator Katung’s long-standing reputation, adding that such actions were counterproductive and run contrary to the shared objectives of peace, unity, collaboration, and sustainable development of the Southern Kaduna, which he has worked for over the years.

The spokesman said Senator Katung was committed to peace, unity, collaboration, and sustainable development in Southern Kaduna.

The statement reaffirmed Senator Katung’s unwavering support for the administration of President Tinubu and Governor Sani and their second-term aspirations.

Katung, however, appealed to his genuine supporters, followers to exercise restraint and to refrain from any conduct or communication that could undermine the prevailing atmosphere of peace, unity, and cooperation.

“The Media Office of the Distinguished Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has observed with concern that some individuals who identify as followers or supporters of the Senator have engaged in making statements—both written and verbal that are unauthorized, unverified, and critical of the Government of Kaduna State and/or His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Senator Uba Sani”

The statement stressed that, “It is important for all supporters to clearly understand that Senator Katung holds His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani in the highest esteem. The Distinguished Senator remains firmly committed to their leadership, their second-term aspirations, and the overall success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels in 2027.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Katung is working tirelessly, in close collaboration with other leaders, to ensure that Southern Kaduna receives the attention, inclusion, and developmental support it rightly deserves from governments at all levels.”
