The Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has declared Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a work-free day for all categories of civil servants in the public sector across the State.
The government said the declaration was aimed at enabling citizens to fully participate in activities lined up to commemorate the historic 50th anniversary of the creation of Bauchi State.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor described the Golden Jubilee as a significant moment for reflection on the State’s journey over the past five decades.
He noted that the anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate achievements, strengthen unity, and renew collective commitment to development, peace, and good governance. He also urged residents to use the occasion to offer prayers for sustained peace, progress, and prosperity in the State.
As part of the Golden Jubilee activities, Governor Mohammed has further directed all residents of the State to plant at least one tree in commemoration of the anniversary.
The tree-planting initiative, according to the statement, was designed to promote environmental sustainability, combat desertification, mitigate the effects of climate change, and preserve the ecosystem for future generations.
The governor also called on citizens to celebrate responsibly, maintain peace and order, and uphold the values of patriotism, environmental consciousness, and collective responsibility that define the spirit of Bauchi State.
He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to good governance, inclusive development, and people-oriented policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens and strengthening institutions across the State.
Governor Mohammed congratulated the people of Bauchi State on the historic milestone and urged all residents to actively participate in the Golden Jubilee to make the event memorable and impactful.
However, providers of essential services were directed to remain on duty in the interest of public safety and security.
