The Australian film, ‘Holy Days’, is a heartwarming treat for families and for those who have lost faith in life and humanity.

Set in 1974 Australia, the comedy-drama tells the story of Brian Collins, his relationship with three elderly nuns, and their journey to save the local convent. When young Collins, who has been unable to come to terms with his mother’s death years later, discovers plans to close the convent, they set off on a journey to the cold South Island in search of the deed to the building. The self-discovery they make and the quirky characters they meet along the way make it an adventure the young at heart will adore.

‘Holy Days’ also draws attention to the dearth of religious order witnessed across the Western world, as seen in the closure of convents, mission houses, and parishes due to a lack of interest in religious vocations. But at the same time, it highlights the phasing out of history and heritage by hound-like property developers.

A New Zealand-Canadian co-production, ‘Holy Days’ was directed by Nathalie Boltt, produced by Emma Slade, Victoria Dabbs, Roxi Bull, Michelle Morris, and Sushant Desai, and stars Oscar nominee and Golden Globe Winner, Judy Davis, BAFTA Winner, Miriam Margolyes, Oscar and Golden Globe Nominee, Jacki Weaver, and newcomer, Elijah Tamati.
