The Southern Kaduna All Progressives Congress (APC) Unity Forum has dissociated the region from a recent rally in Kafanchan, which was reportedly organised by a group claiming to represent Southern Kaduna youths and women in support of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

Addressing a press conference in Kafanchan on Tuesday, the Forum described the gathering, said to have been convened under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC),as a “show of shame” orchestrated by “unscrupulous elements” pursuing selfish interests.

The group specifically named Mr. Darius Kurah and his associates, who allegedly held the rally on February 25, 2026, accusing them of falsely claiming to speak for Southern Kaduna youths and women.
According to the Forum, the organisers lack the mandate to represent the sentiments of the region.

Speaking further on the gathering, the convener of the Forum, Edward John Auta Pama, maintained that the majority of people in Southern Kaduna support the ongoing investigations by anti-graft and security agencies into the affairs of the former governor.

The Forum expressed confidence in the constitutional roles of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Department of State Services (DSS), noting that their actions follow due process and uphold accountability.

It recalled that during El-Rufai’s tenure from 2015 to 2023, several Southern Kaduna stakeholders were allegedly arrested or detained, including veteran journalist Luka Binniyat and some Adara elders.
The Forum also referenced the deposition and incarceration of the late paramount ruler of the Kurama

Chiefdom, Dr. Ishaku Damina, arguing that it is therefore ironic to now label the former governor’s investigation as political persecution.

While urging security agencies to thoroughly examine past and recent statements attributed to El-Rufai, the group emphasized that accountability is essential for strengthening democracy and deterring divisive politics.

The Forum further stated that prosecuting the former governor would reinforce the principle that “no one is above the law” under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It commended the leadership of Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and President Tinubu for what it described as improved inclusion and development in Southern Kaduna.

The Southern Kaduna APC Unity Forum reaffirmed its allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged to mobilise what it described as “an unprecedented 1.5 million votes” for President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections.

Members of the Forum carried placards with various inscriptions supporting the probe of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
