Nilayo Sports Management Ltd., the organizers of the Yenagoa City International 10KM Race, have announced an impressive $11,500 prize purse for elite athletes competing on April 4, 2026, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
This inaugural race is quickly gaining global attention and is set to attract top runners from across Nigeria and around the world. Competitors will vie for both prestige and significant financial rewards in what is anticipated to be one of the most exciting road races on the athletics calendar.
The prize structure for elite male and female athletes is as follows:
1st Place: $5,000
2nd Place: $3,000
3rd Place: $2,000
4th Place: $1,000
* 5th Place: $500
The Yenagoa City International 10KM Race will commence at 9:30 a.m. Runners will start from Opolo Roundabout along the Isaac Boro Expressway and finish at the iconic Peace Park on the Mbiama–Yenagoa Road. The official race cut-off time is 12:30 p.m.
Designed to promote sports development, wellness, and tourism in Bayelsa State, the race is expected to draw hundreds of participants, spectators, and athletics enthusiasts. This event further reinforces Yenagoa’s growing reputation as a destination for international sporting events.
